In short: most businesses on Clinket have not been verified by Clinket. A business shows the Verified business mark only after Clinket’s team has checked it as described below. Even then, Clinket does not guarantee the business or its work, so please use your own judgement before you book.
Clinket’s team may mark a business as Verified business after checking the business’s registration, the owner’s identity, and the business’s licence and insurance where its trade requires them. Customers see the mark with the words “Clinket has confirmed this business’s identity.”
Clinket does not carry out police verification or criminal record checks, inspect premises, check references, test skills, or keep checking licences and insurance after the mark is given. The mark confirms only what our team checked at the time. It does not guarantee that a document is genuine, that the business is still in good standing, or the quality, safety or honesty of its work. A business without the mark has simply not been verified; that does not mean anything is wrong with it.
Confirming an email address or phone number with a code, which every account does, only shows that someone can receive messages there. It is not business verification.
These marks are given by Clinket’s team or worked out automatically. None of them can be bought, and none of them means that the business has been verified.
Some profiles are set up by Clinket from publicly available information before the business has joined. They are labelled “Set up by Clinket from public information”, have not been checked by the business or verified by Clinket, and may be out of date. Customers cannot book these businesses online until the business claims its profile.
If we offer to verify your business, we may ask you for some of the following. We will tell you how to send them safely.
You share these documents by choice. We keep them with restricted access, only for as long as we need them for verification, to resolve disputes and to meet legal obligations, and we handle them under applicable privacy law.
Every business remains fully responsible for holding valid licences, keeping insurance and following every law that applies to its work, whether or not it is verified. Clinket may refuse documents that are blurred, expired, mismatched, altered, suspicious or incomplete, may refuse or remove a mark, and may suspend or permanently remove a business that gives forged or false information.
We will update this policy when the way we verify businesses changes. If you have questions, email support@clinket.com.
